The Speaking section of the IELTS test is conducted as a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner, allowing for a direct and interactive assessment of the test-taker's spoken English skills. This section consists of two tasks. Task 1 requires describing visual information (e.g., graphs, charts, diagrams) in one's own words, while Task 2 involves writing an essay in response to a given prompt.
A face-to-face interview is conducted by a certified examiner. It comprises three parts: a structured interview, a short speech on a familiar topic, and a discussion based on the speech topic. The test duration is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are completed in one sitting, while the Speaking section may be conducted on the same day or up to a week before or after the other sections.
