Webster University’s Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts prepares students to be the next generation of theatre visionaries, creators, and leaders. Through immersive training, students develop the skills to innovate and excel in the dynamic world of theatre. By the end of their training at the Sargent Conservatory, students will be able to:

  1. Describe Context: Articulate the cultural and historical contexts that shape theatrical practice. 🌍📜
  2. Develop Skills: Refine analytical, research, organizational, and technical skills for creating and performing theatre. 🔍🎭
  3. Apply Expertise: Use these skills to produce and perform theatre across various styles with creativity and competence. 🎨🎬
  4. Exhibit Leadership: Demonstrate effective leadership, communication, and collaboration in theatre settings. 🤝🎤
  5. Promote Equity: Evaluate and address power dynamics and biases in the arts and society, striving for equity and justice through theatrical work. ⚖️🎭

  • Minimum Grade: Only courses with a grade of C- or above will count towards the major requirements. 📚
  • Auditions/Interviews: All students must audition or interview to be considered for the theatre major. These are held annually in the spring for admission to the following fall semester. 🎤🎭

  • Required Credit Hours: 97 credit hours 📚
  • Global Citizenship Program: Applicable hours, with specific accommodations for theatre BFAs 🌍
