Webster University’s Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts trains future theatre professionals to become visionaries, creators, and leaders. 🌟 With a focus on nurturing creativity and leadership, students are prepared to excel in the next generation of theatre. 👩‍🎤🎬

By the end of their training at the Sargent Conservatory, students will be able to:

  • Describe the Cultural and Historical Context: Understand and articulate the cultural and historical background of theatrical practice. 📚
  • Develop Analytical and Technical Skills: Cultivate strong analytical, research, organizational, and technical skills for creating and performing theatre. 🔍
  • Apply Skills Creatively: Use these skills in diverse theatrical styles with creativity and competence. 🎨
  • Model Effective Leadership: Exhibit positive leadership, clear communication, and effective collaboration in theatre settings. 🤝
  • Promote Equity and Justice: Analyze and address power relationships and biases within the arts to foster equity and justice. ⚖️

  • Grade Requirement: Only courses completed with a grade of C- or above will count towards fulfilling the specific requirements of the major. 📚
  • Auditions/Interviews: All students planning to major in theatre at Webster University must complete an audition or interview. These are held annually during the spring semester for admission into the following fall session. 🎤🎭

  • Required Credit Hours: 98 credit hours 📚
  • Global Citizenship Program: Applicable University Global Citizenship Program hours, with accommodations for theatre BFAs 🌍
  • Electives: As needed to complete the degree requirements 🎓
