Graduates of the MAT with an emphasis in Elementary Education will:
Understand the Foundations: Be knowledgeable about the history of primary and intermediate education, characteristics of elementary students, and the principles underlying best educational practices.
Design Effective Strategies: Proficiently design, adapt, and modify assessment plans, instructional strategies, and curricula based on current research on cognitive, social, and emotional development in elementary school children.
Reflect and Collaborate: Reflect on their roles as educators to improve learning outcomes and collaborate with families and the community to advocate for inclusive and equitable educational opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds.
Embrace Diversity: Recognize, value, and respond to the unique individual abilities and differences of elementary-age students.
