The PGCE Geography with Humanities (QTS) is designed to guide you from a novice to an expert in teaching. Hereβs what you can expect:
π Pre-Course Preparation: Before starting, youβll audit your knowledge in geography and humanities, creating an action plan to fill any gaps.
π Foundation Building: The course starts by deepening your understanding of why teaching geography is important and engages you with research and literature on effective pedagogy.
π Curriculum Focus: Youβll get a solid grounding in teaching key geographical skills and concepts, such as space, place, and environmental interactions. The course also covers common areas between humanities subjects, including enquiry methods and outdoor learning.
π©βπ« Specialist Training: Opportunities to apply general humanities principles to geography will be provided. Youβll work with history students in parallel sessions and have specific breakout sessions focusing on teaching geography at Key Stage 4 (KS4).
