Webster University offers two emphases in Music Education to meet or exceed the State of Missouri’s requirements for K-12 teacher certification. These programs are tailored for students who aspire to teach music in elementary or secondary school settings. They provide a comprehensive education in music teaching methods, pedagogy, and performance, preparing graduates to effectively educate and inspire students in diverse music programs. 
Upon completing the Music Education program, students will:
Philosophy & Pedagogy: Articulate a personal philosophy of music education and explain how it shapes their teaching practice.
Instructional Design: Analyze and create instructional activities and materials that are developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with music standards.
Planning & Execution: Plan and deliver instruction in various formats, considering diverse student backgrounds and needs.
Assessment: Demonstrate knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods, using valid and reliable tools.
Musical Skills: Show a broad set of musical skills to make music instruction engaging and relevant.
Technology Integration: Use technology effectively to enhance music instruction.
Professional Skills: Develop professional skills and dispositions, such as effective communication, essential for a successful music education career. Required Courses: Complete specific courses as outlined in the Music Education program.
Global Citizenship Program: Fulfill applicable University Global Citizenship Program hours with accommodations for the Bachelor of Music Education.
