Academic Criteria Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited/recognized institution. Minimum 2.75 GPA (or equivalent); lower GPAs may be considered for provisional admission. Official academic transcripts (credential evaluation may be required for international applicants). Valid passport and proof of financial support for I-20 issuance. English Language Proficiency TOEFL iBT: Minimum 79 IELTS Academic: Minimum 6.5 Duolingo English Test: Minimum 105 English proficiency requirement may be waived for eligible applicants.

The Benedictine University Interfaith Studies Certificate helps students of any major become interfaith leaders conversant in the theory and practice of interfaith engagement, as related to a variety of disciplines, their future career, community, and peace and justice issues. By exploring the theory and practice of interfaith engagement, you will enhance your understanding of diverse perspectives, preparing you to address community, peace, and justice issues in your future career and beyond.

Given the diversity of Chicagoland and our country and the great need for such sensitivity in any field, this certificate will give you transferable skills such as learning to communicate across differences (religious, cultural, racial, or political); integrate faith studies into any major; and become more attractive on the job market.

The Interfaith Studies Certificate will enhance any career that requires you to interact with diverse clients, patients, or students: from business to health sciences to education, and more. You will improve your ability to communicate empathetically across religious, cultural, and other differences in a variety of settings, and better understand how interreligious topics relate to your career as well as to civic and other local and national organizations.
