Foundations in Clinical Psychology MSc

The Foundations in Clinical Psychology master’s degrees offer world-class tuition and pastoral support. From this, you’ll gain key knowledge and understanding.

There are two pathways available*:

• Foundations in Clinical Psychology MSc (5202f)- students will complete a 60 credit dissertation which is suitable for students interested in developing their research skills
• Foundations in Clinical Psychology with Professional Skills Portfolio MSc (5506F) – this programme is suitable for students who have not undertaken a research project during their UG studies and a 60 credit professional skills module, incorporating simulated placement activities, replaces the research dissertation

*only the 60-credit module differs, all other modules are the same across both pathways

Our programmes will equip you with a number of skills. These will help you to enter the fields of clinical and applied psychology and research.

You will learn through expert lead teaching and training in topics related to:

• clinical psychology
• health and forensic psychology
• neurobiology and human development
• research skills

The course provides you with a sound basis to apply for roles relevant to applied psychology.  This could include roles such as an assistant psychologist post. You’ll gain academic and research skills which will support you in applying for further training. You must also have relevant work experience to explore this. This may include the following vocational training:

• doctoral training in clinical psychology
• training as a forensic psychologist
• Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programmes
