Doctor of Education (EdD)

Webster University’s Doctor of Education (EdD) program, offered by the School of Education, is designed around a scholar-practitioner model to foster scholarship, research, and leadership.

• Holistic Framework : The program focuses on four key areas:

  • Social Consciousness : Connect dissertation projects to sociopolitical, socioeconomic, and sociocultural contexts.

  • Cross-Cultural Research : Emphasize projects with global contextual relevancy.
• Program Duration :
  • Standard Duration: Approximately three years (maximum of seven years).
  • Coursework : Completed in the first two years.
  • Dissertation/Portfolio : Completed in the third year.
  • EdS Holders : Students with an Educational Specialist (EdS) degree are waived 15 credit hours, equivalent to one year of coursework.

Students needing to extend beyond seven years must seek special permission from the Dean.
