  • Performance: Perform a variety of techniques and styles with professional integrity, demonstrating a broad spectrum of expressivity and quality technical expertise. 🌟
  • Choreography: Create work that shows understanding and exploration of fundamental choreographic concepts while identifying and articulating these concepts in others’ choreography. 🎭
  • Teaching: Develop and execute innovative lesson plans for various ages, techniques, and populations, effectively communicating movement vocabulary. 📝
  • Research: Identify and explore independent research interests with curiosity and academic rigor. 📚
  • Professional Contexts: Function effectively in various professional settings, displaying global awareness through intrapersonal, interpersonal, collaborative, and technological skills. 🌍🤝💻

  • Course Grades: Courses completed with a grade of D do not count toward fulfilling the specific course requirements of the major. ❌
  • Audition Requirements: Acceptance to the Department of Dance as a degree-seeking student (BA or BFA) requires an audition, which includes the following components:
    • An interview to discuss career goals and past history. 🎤
    • Submission of a résumé. 📄
    • Performance of approximately two to three minutes of choreography. 🩰
    • Participation in ballet and modern technique classes. 🩰💃
