Students choosing the Creative Writing minor or concentration develop their talents as creative writers in different genres, including poetry, fiction, non-fictional prose, memoir and life-writing, and playwriting. Students are strongly urged to create a writer’s portfolio and work on or submit writing to student publications.

The Creative Writing Minor is for all students that want to strengthen their abilities at narrative storytelling. Students are introduced to varying genres and different modes of literary expression, the intent of which is to foster student growth while enabling students to write their truth.
