Contextual Theologies and Interfaith Relations (M.Phil. / P.Grad.Dip.)

This interdisciplinary programme delves into the contextual and plural nature of theological reflection and its impact on inter- and intra-faith relations. The course embraces a broad understanding of ‘faith,’ encompassing various religions and spiritual practices, from traditional institutions to experimental spiritualities.

• Interdisciplinary Exploration: Engage with diverse theological perspectives and their implications for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation. 🌱✝️☸️
• Global Perspectives: Study a range of critical faith perspectives from the Americas, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, blending liberation theologies with ecumenical and interfaith dialogue. 🌐📜
• Three Main Strands:
  • Religions, Politics, Ethics, and Pluralism: Analyze issues such as religion and secularity, human rights, conflict and peace, race, caste, gender, sexualities, and postcolonial/decolonial critique. 🌏⚖️
  • Ecumenical Dialogue: Explore how ecclesial communities transform previously antagonistic relationships into reconciled, postcolonial, and postimperial identities. 🕊️🔄
  • Liberationist and Interreligious Theologies: Integrate interfaith dialogue with themes of justice, peace, and reconciliation, including Buddhist-Christian, Hindu-Muslim, and other interreligious interactions. 🤝🕌✡️
