Chemistry is often called the “central science” because it connects physics, biology, mathematics, and environmental sciences . It explains various processes, like plant growth , rock formation , ozone impact , medication effects , and crime scene analysis .

At Webster University, our BS in Chemistry offers a strong foundation in chemistry, physics, and mathematics . It’s an excellent start for careers in medicine or health sciences and meets the prerequisites for medical, dental, pharmacy, and veterinary programs .

You’ll dive into organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry with extensive lab work . Hands-on learning includes undergraduate research, teaching assistantships, summer research options, and internships .

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry will be able to:

• Explain Molecular Structure: Describe the molecular structure of chemical substances and understand how it relates to chemical behavior.
• Identify and Quantify Substances: Identify and quantify chemical substances within a sample accurately.
• Predict Chemical Reactions: Predict the mechanisms and products of chemical reactions, including computing reaction rates and equilibrium compositions.

To earn a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, students must complete:

• 67 Core Credit Hours: Required coursework in chemistry and related subjects.
• 6 Additional Credit Hours: Advanced CHEM courses at the 3000-4000 level.
• Global Citizenship Program Hours: Fulfill the university’s global citizenship requirements with specific accommodations for the Chemistry BS.
