Graduates of the BFA in Art with a Studio Emphasis program will be able to:

• ART 1900: First-Year Exhibition
  • Requirement: All BFA in Art with a Studio Emphasis majors must register for ART 1900 in the spring of their first year.
  • Purpose: This exhibition allows students to display their work alongside their first-year peers in a group show with a public reception 🌟🎉.
  • Feedback: DADAH faculty will review the work and provide feedback to help students reflect on their progress and direction 🎨🖼️.
• ART 2900: DADAH Critique
  • Requirement: Must register for ART 2900 in the first semester after completing 18 studio credits.
  • Timing: For traditional freshmen, this occurs in their sophomore year (fall or spring). Transfer students must complete this in their first semester or when they have a combined total of 18 studio credits 📅🖌️.
  • Review: The critique involves a review of student progress by DADAH faculty. Students will meet with their advisor to discuss the faculty’s feedback and recommendations 💬👨‍🎨.
  • Possible Second Review: In some cases, students may be advised to undergo a second review in the following semester 🗓️🔄.
• BFA Candidacy Application
  • Requirement: Apply for BFA candidacy by completing the candidacy form and presenting a selection of specialized work one year before graduation 📝🎨.
  • Evaluation: Successful completion involves a written application and submission of work demonstrating studio specialization, technical skill, and conceptual sophistication 🌟📁.
  • Outcome: Students will receive written notification of acceptance or a recommendation to resubmit after their portfolio and application are reviewed by DADAH faculty 📧✅.

To earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art with a Studio Emphasis, students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours. This includes:

• 79 Required Credit Hours: Core courses and studio work specific to the Art program 🖼️📚.
• 18 Global Citizenship Program Credit Hours: Courses that meet the university’s global citizenship requirements 🌍📖.
• 23 Elective Credit Hours: Additional courses that allow for exploration outside the core curriculum or further specialization in studio art 🎨🔍.
