Students with an Art History minor gain a foundational understanding of the history of art and architecture. The program requires a combination of broad survey courses and classes in specific fields and periods. Overall, students explore visual images and architecture in their broader social contexts, allowing students to understand how social, cultural, and intellectual factors help inform the discipline.

Students may declare a minor in art history to complement a major in any other area of study. The combination of an art history minor with a major in Community Health and Wellness, Psychology, or Business, for example, may lead, respectively, to graduate study and/or careers in such fields as dance/health education, expressive therapies, or arts administration.

Graduates are prepared for careers such as:
-Museum or gallery curator
-Art conservator or collections manager
-Art historian or researcher
-Cultural heritage specialist
-Arts administrator or educator
