The Humanities explore how people tell stories, interpret meaning, and document human experience. The Curry College Applied Humanities major and minor takes these traditions from literature and history to philosophy, art history, musicology, religious studies, writing, and more — and connects them directly to the world beyond the classroom.

Through community engaged learning and public facing projects, students develop marketable skills, gain hands on experience, and build connections that prepare them for meaningful careers. Designed with flexibility in mind, the program allows students to focus solely on Applied Humanities or combine it with a second major to create a uniquely powerful interdisciplinary pathway.

Graduates of Applied Humanities pursue careers in a wide range of fields, including:

-Arts and Culture Organizations
-Community Nonprofits
-Education (K–12 and Higher Ed)
-Public Service and Government
-Communications, Media, and Public Engagement
-Museums, Libraries, and Cultural Institutions
-Healthcare and Human Services
-Social Impact & Advocacy Work
-Writing, Editing, and Content Creation
