The Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts, part of the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts, offers a prestigious Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Acting 🎭🎓. Our program stands out with its nationally recognized training in both Acting and Musical Theatre, where students benefit from an integrated approach to performance education.

 

Upon completing their training at the Sargent Conservatory, students will be able to:

  1. Understand Context: Describe the cultural and historical context of theatrical practice 🎭📜.
  2. Develop Skills: Hone strong analytical, research, organizational, and technical skills for creating and performing theatre 🛠️📚🎬.
  3. Apply Creativity: Apply these skills to the production and performance of theatre, embracing a variety of styles with creativity and competence 🌟🎭.
  4. Lead and Collaborate: Model positive leadership, clear communication, and effective collaboration to work well with others 🤝🗣️.
  5. Promote Equity: Assess power relationships and biases in the arts and society, and work to promote equity and justice through theatre in both classwork and productions 🌍⚖️.

  • Grade Requirements: Only courses completed with a grade of C- or above will count toward fulfilling the specific requirements of the major 📚✏️.
  • Auditions/Interviews: All students planning to major in theatre must complete an audition or interview. These are held annually during the spring semester for admission into the following fall session 🎭🎤.

  • Credit Hours: Complete 83 required credit hours for the Theatre major 🎓📚.
  • Global Citizenship: Fulfill applicable University Global Citizenship Program hours, with specific accommodations for Theatre BFAs 🌍📜.
  • Electives: Choose electives to complement your major and broaden your academic experience 🎨📘.
